What accessories for shooting a Taurus LBR in competitions

Postby Simon Page » Tue Mar 13, 2018 10:38 am

Hi all,

Looking for info and suggestions for shooting a Taurus .38/357 LBR (7 shot) in practical competitions (targets on the move around a course of fire, not static gallery style), so looking for info on:

How many speedloaders ?
Type of belt ?
Type of holster?
Scope rail?
Pistol scope or red dot?
Anything else I've not listed above?

and make, cost and where from please

Thanks

I've got a Ghost holster which came from Ghost http://ghostinternational.com/en/portfo ... #iLightbox[gallery2162]/1 and is excellent as it holds the gun securely and the barrel length isn't an issue. I've also fitted a rail for scopes which I got from Brownells https://www.brownells.com/ and have run both Tasco PDP3 and C-More Railway though I've always prefered C-Mores https://www.cmore.com/ , there are two models of mount depending on the top strap on your gun but both fit into the rear sight mounting cut. As for speed loaders when using them I had six on the belt but had the gun changed to full moon clips which makes loading quite a bit faster, I've also had the rod straightened so it doesn't get in the way for weak hand stuff. Plus the usual Wolff springs, again from Brownells, for the trigger as you can, relatively cheaply, improve the trigger pull. It'll never be as good as a gunsmith trigger job though.

Hiya Simon,

I like you have the 7 shot Taurus, and sadly we cant change to moon clips, and if they were available you would need a `mod` to your cylinder to accommodate them. So its just a lotta practice with the speed/jet loaders.

There's a rather nice 8 shot .38/.357 now available (Bloody expensive) that uses moon clips, and also a rather nice `9` the only other less expensive way is to part ex your .357 for a .45 ACP version and this model is moon clip ready!!

Hope this helps, other lads might want to add their take on this too.

Gary do you know the exact model of Ghost holster required as there are so many on their website and their search function seems very poor, nothing holster wise comes up for revolver?

Simon, I'll have a look at it over the weekend to see if it has any codes or names on it.
